Team

SamSam Diamond

My name is Sam Diamond and I was born and raised in Perth. I’m 17 years old with my birthday falling on Anzac Day. I come from a relatively large family with 6 kids (one girl and five boys), and because of this we never had or needed pets growing up.

I’m a fairly ‘Artsy’ person, by which I mean I thoroughly enjoy drama and acting, singing and listening to music, and I’ll pull out the occasional pencil to have a bit of a scribble.

Some people say that spending a Friday or Saturday night watching movies is a waste of a perfectly good night…I’m not one of those people. Watching movies is one of my favourite pastimes, my top four being Fight Club, Pan’s Labyrinth, Kill Bill Vol 1. and Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. I also enjoy a good horror or thriller.

I plan on studying Architecture at the University of Western Australia in years to come, but for now I’m living and working in Melbourne with the Remar GAP team. It’s going to be a big year for Remar and I couldn’t be happier to be a part of it.

LaurenLauren Haworth

Heyy! My name is Lauren Haworth and I am currently 18 years old. I was born and raised in Launceston, Tasmania. I am one of the 5% of people in the world who are born on their due date, Dad claims that this is the only time in my life that I have ever been on time. I come from a relatively small family in comparison to the rest of the GAP team with Mum, Dad and My sister Sarah(15).

I finished school at St Patrick’s College last year and was a member of the very first caravel to come through our school. I intend on studying Pharmacy in either Tasmania or Adelaide when I finish my time as a Remar GAP. I enjoy sailing, playing soccer and am also an avid reader and movie watcher. In the near future I would like to learn how to sew properly and speak a different language, but don’t hold your breath because GAP is going to be very busy this year. I am really glad to be on the team and am looking forward to meeting lots of different people and actively being the hands and feet of my faith.

MadiMadeleine Gilbey

My name is Madeleine Gilbey and I’m originally from Bendigo in country Victoria. I’m currently 18 and my birthday is on the 13th of October. I have 3 younger sisters and a dog called Rosie. My heroes are Dr Catherine Hamlin and Mary MacKillop because they both saw a need and then acted to better the situation of others.

I love photography – specifically taking shots of flowers with plenty of detail. I like reading and am one of those people who, given the time, can read an entire novel in a day or two. Listening to music and cooking are also things which I enjoy doing.

Eventually, I was to become a doctor and work overseas in third world countries. I want to be hands-on and practical in living out my faith through ministry. I feel so privileged being on the GAP team this year for Remar Australia and I’m looking forward to giving back to the program that gave me so much.

AlexAlex Rathbone

Hey, my name is Alexander “Bibi” Rathbone. I was born in Melbourne on the 26th of February 1992.  Some people say I’m not dissimilar to a mushroom, you know a pretty fungi (pronounced fun-guy).  I spent my time growing up in Melbourne and Sydney.  I am an Essendon Supporter through and through.  Like most others in the world, love my music, can’t hear enough of Vampire Weekend. When people ask me what celebrity would play me in a movie, I say Seth Rogan, the man has class and a good hair-do.

I started the year at Monash University Clayton doing a science/education double degree, love Monash recommend it thoroughly, but when I got the call up to be a gap, I didn’t hesitate.  In years to come, I’d like people to think of me as a crazy science teacher, the kind that is awesome.

JackJack O’Sullivan

Hola, Jambo, Bula, G’Day! My name is Jack O’Sullivan, I was born in 1990 in a beautiful place called Shepparton, I spent 18 years of life there and then was attracted to the big city to pursue my calling as a youth minister. I am an avid liver of life! What I love to do in my spare time is play music (either on guitar or recorder), watch the movie Titanic (my favourite), chill out with mates and muck around! I can not cook a meal without burning myself and my most embarrassing moment was running into a goal post at an athletics trial and breaking my collar bone in front of my whole primary school! I am really looking forward to this year in Remar as it will involve lots of fun, new people and exploring this life we have been given! Peace
