Gold

goldEach year level is characterized by a colour and participants are challenged to live by a motto and associated values.

Participants in Year 12 are a part of the “Gold Crossing”.

The motto for the year is “A witness in my community.”  Students are encouraged to be a witness to the values of the Gospel by openly following the example of Jesus.  The importance of prayer, both on a communal and personal level, are highlighted as the foundation for our acts of justice and peace.

The values for the year are “perseverance”, “presence” and “simplicity”, in an acknowledgement that to continue on with the journey, students will need to juggle commitments, be supportive of one another and continually return to the motto as a motivating factor.  Students are challenged to develop:

  • a genuine commitment to the group and desire to provide support to each other during a demanding year
  • a deep understanding of their personal vocation and call to live in the image of Christ
  • an innate drive to respond to the needs of the poor and marginalised through active involvement and service,
  • a personal and group experience of “who God  is” and a strong desire for a lifestyle that openly reflects the Gospel values.

To support their development, students participate in:

  • one school based camp at the beginning of the year (focusing on personal development, community formation and faith development).  This is called the Gold Embarkation Camp.
  • one National camp during the year (focusing on prayer, faith development, personal vocation and social justice issues).  This is called the Gold Leadership Camp.
  • programmed, fortnightly meetings
  • regular ministry and service to the community
  • the provision of leadership and support to students involved in both the Red and Blue Crossings
  • a final ‘graduation’ evening which celebrates the achievements of the student, and the group.  It marks the end of a three year journey, and commissions each student to continue to live out the values espoused by Remar.  It commissions the students to continue to live as a disciple of Christ.

Each group is led by a teacher who walks with them throughout the three year journey.
